On Sunday, October 25, 2020 Louise Maestas Esquíbel went to be with our Lord. At 94 years old she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.
Louise was born on March 15, 1926 in La Puebla NM, married her husband, Max on October 19, 1946 and spent 61 years together.
Louise attended Santa Cruz High School, received her GED on October 21, 1974, worked at Los Alamos Fuller Lodge, as well as Santa County extension service teaching others the art of preserving and enjoying food.
Louise lived a life long devotion to her faith. Louise was a member of the Holy Family Association of Cuarteles, member of Sangre de Cristo Chapel in Cuarteles for 40 years, and choir member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church for 20 years. Louise never missed Sunday mass at Santa Cruz Catholic Church until she could no longer drive and always found time to pray her rosary.
Louise enjoyed life in many ways but loved gardening, camping, doing puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her family. Louise was also talented at composing "versos," and was asked by many to memorialize the death of a loved one.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Sinforosa Maestas, parents-in-law, Alejandro and Eloisa Esquíbel, daughter, Mary Louise Jaramillo, husband, Max Esquibel, grandsons, Chris Sherwood, John Sherwood, Michael Esquíbel and Jaime Vigil, siblings, Porfiria (Conce) Frésquez, Adela (Felix) Quintana, Carasiolo (Alice) Maestas, Oliby Maestas, Candido Maestas and Joe (Martha) Maestas and brothers-in-law and sistes-in-law, Donelia (Dan) Montoya, Marie (Tom) Carmen, Dora (Joe) Martínez, Josie Cervantes, Ernestine Trujillo, Gloria Herrera, Candelario (Della) Esquíbel, Ramón (Edwina) Esquíbel, Sam Esquíbel and Henry Esquíbel.
