Barbourville, Ky. – Alene Bargo, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 27, 2020. Alene was the daughter of Gilbert Bargo and Axie Mills Bargo, joyfully born to them in Blanche Kentucky, (Bell County) on October 29, 1949.

From the age of nine, Alene resided in Knox County, Kentucky, living for many years in Stinking Creek. She was a Baptist, and found comfort in her faith in God.

Alene lived a simple life. She was humble, down to earth and loved to have a good time. Alene was known for her sense of humor and her ability to make others laugh. As a child, she enjoyed spending time with her siblings – playing games and exploring the home-place property with her brothers and sisters and neighbor children. She loved shopping with her sisters, and listening to rock and country music. Alene will forever be remembered as a fun loving, genuinely nice person who never had an unkind thing to say about anyone.

In addition to her parents, Gilbert Bargo and Axie Mills Bargo, Alene was preceded in death by six siblings: sisters, Eselene Bargo, Irene Bargo, Gelois Bargo Fetters, Lula Bargo Smith and brothers, Leon Bargo and Donald Ray Bargo. Four beloved nephews also preceded Alene in death: Mark Steven Smith, Benjamin Moore, Ronald Bargo, and Ricky Bargo.

Left behind to mourn Alene’s passing is her brother Eugene Bargo of Barbourville and three sisters; Retha Mae Bargo, of Barbourville, Barbara Sue Bargo Beheler (Kenny), of Taylor, Michigan, and Dorothy Jean Gabbard (Jerry), of Woodbine, Kentucky. A host of dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews will also miss Alene greatly: nieces: Joanne Pauley (Perry), Rhonda Cone (Dennis), Erika Gibson (Kevin), Brittany Hale (Jason), Tiffany Gabbard, and Katelyn Dean (Tristin); nephews: Sean Smith (Patricia), Donnie Bargo, great-nieces: Angela Freiderich (Steven), Sierra Smith, Savannah Cone, Isabella Cone, Penelope Hale, Lainey Hale, Autumn Dean, and Emma Gibson; great-nephews: Perry Michael Pauley (Michelle), Ethan Cone and Jason Rodney Hale.

The Bargo family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour of 2:00 PM. The Reverend Donnie Mills will officiate. Musical Tributes will be performed by the Christian Pilgrims. Burial will immediately follow the funeral service in the Barbourville Cemetery. The family has chosen Jerry Gabbard, Tristin Dean, Jason Hale, Kevin Gibson, Larry Moore and Sean Smith as Pallbearers.
