Emanuel Henry Jones was born February 21, 1844, on his parent's wheat farm in Carroll County, Maryland. He became the husband of Margaret Ann Hammer Jones, whom he married in 1880; their family included 14 children. Emanuel and Margaret owned a vegetable farm in York, Pennsylvania, where they settled after marriage. He, his wife and their youngest child, Martha Washington Jones (1901-1920), all passed away within less than three years of each other and are buried together with one headstone.
