Little Rock , AR

Ludie Mae Ford Baldwin of Lonoke passed away at Briarwood Nursing Center on July 5, 2007, after recently enjoying a lively celebration of her 90th birthday. She was married to the late Calvin Baldwin of Lonoke for 39 years and was the daughter of the late John N. and Frances Shirley Ford of the Furlow Community in Lonoke County.

Ludie worked for many years at Lackie Drugs in Lonoke. She was an active member of Concord United Methodist Church, which was also her family's church as a child, and she enjoyed the fellowship of the Concord United Methodist Women. Ludie participated in the Concord Senior Citizens group each week where her chicken and dumplings were unrivaled. She was a devoted member of the Conway Human Development Center Parents' Association and rarely missed a meeting until her recent illness.

Ludie was known for remembering birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions with greeting cards and phone calls. She had a knack for starting cuttings of roses, which she shared with friends and relatives and handed down for generations. Ludie was an avid sports fan who loved the Razorbacks, the Cowboys, and the Cardinals, and anyone who watched sports with her was wise to do the same. She will be remembered for her sweet smile, kind words, and beautiful blue eyes.

Survivors include: two sons, Ford Baldwin and wife Tomilea of Austin, and Park Baldwin of Conway; two daughters Anita Westbrook and husband Jim, and Elaine Wootten and husband Gil, all of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Carrie Henry, Jeff Baldwin, Luke Baldwin, Erin Baldwin, Lisa Thomas, and Laurie Gibbs; five great-grandchildren, Declan and Blakelee Baldwin, Carter Baldwin, Parker Davis, and Jacob Thomas; a daughter-in-law, Rita Baldwin; two brothers, James Ford and wife Lola Mae of Norphlet and V.L. Ford of Jacksonville; one sister, Catherine Thresher of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Virginia Chrestman of Lonoke; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, John N. Ford, Joe S. Ford, and Bill Fulbright, and her sisters, Elizabeth Overton Kimzey and Louella Horstman.

The family is especially grateful for the loving care provided by Briarwood Nursing Center.
