He was born on July 1, 1924 in Paragould, Arkansas to parents John and Hattie Burns. James enlisted in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He later worked for Remington Arms until he retired. James was a longtime member of the Church of God in North Little Rock. He loved to hunt and camp with his sons and loved playing Bean Bag Baseball and Bingo.
James is preceded by his wife of 64 years, Melvina Burns; his grandson, Jason Burns and his four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by 1 sister Minnie Blanchard, 2 brothers Bobby and Billy Burns, his sons Charles Burns (Paula), Darrell Burns (Claira) and David Burns (Donna); grandchildren Christopher Burns, Clifford Burns, Chase Burns, Chad Burns, Matthew Burns and Kellie McKim along with three great grandchildren, Jonathan, Pippa and Zane.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10th at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Rd., NLR."
