Daniel S. Moore seventy-three, former truant officer in the public schools of Columbia and elder of the First Presbyterian church Columbia, for twenty-five years, died this morning in the Columbia Hospital, at 6:45 o'clock, from the effects of a stroke. He had been residing for a short time with his niece, Mrs. Charles Blattenberger, of 235 Walnut street, Columbia. He was a son of the late Joseph and Sally Shay Moore and is survived by one brother, Armour N., of Columbia, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Sweeney of York. He was active in church affairs having taught the Men's Bible class for eight years. (Lancaster New Era - July 29, 1938)
