Elizabeth Moore , Daughter of Labon and Nancy Moore, was born July 22, 1930, in Barren (sic) county, Ky, and died at her home near Pawnee, Mo, January 24, 1916, where she had lived for the last 61 years.
She was married to Uriah S Bowen on February 16, 1851, and moved to Missouri in the spring of 1854. She saw many hardships in those early days, which young people know nothing about.
She was the mother of thirteen children, nine sons and four daughters, eight of them still living, and five of whom are still near the old home. Her son Frank, being single, lived with her and was a great comfort to her in her declining years. She often said to the writer she did not see how she could have lived without Frank.
She was the grandmother of fifty-nine grandchildren, forty-nine living, and fifty-six great-grandchildren, fifty-one living.
Her husband died in 1893,leaving her without his companionship. She became convinced of the truthfulness of the gospel as it is taught by the Latter Day Saints, and in August 1883, she and her husband were baptized by Elder McHarness and continued faithful to the end of life. She was sick quite a long time and was a great sufferer, but she bore her suffering with great patience. Her battle is fought, her crown is won. She has laid up her treasurers in heaven. N. J. H.
