Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette A. Sarver and her husband Elmer; two sons, Nolan Atkinson and his wife Judith, Leroy Atkinson and his wife Glenda all of Crowley; two sisters, Ruth Henry of Lafayette and Maridel Jones of San Antonio, TX; one brother, John Atkinson of Morse; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren.
Mr. Atkinson was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He retired from farming after fifty-five years.
Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his wife Winnie Broussard Atkinson; his parents, Joseph and Eve Jones Atkinson; four sisters and five brothers.
