Ebenezer- Funeral Services for John C. Atkinson, 90, will be held on Friday April 25, 2014 at the Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene at 1:00PM with Pastor Joseph “T” Talhelm officiating. Visitation will held at The Ebenezer Church of the Nazarene on Thursday April 24, 2014 from 1:00PM until 9:00PM and will resume on Friday April 25, 2014 at 9:00AM until just prior to service time. Interment will follow the church services at the Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery. Mr. Atkinson passed away on Monday April 21, 2014.

A native of Acadia Parish, Mr. Atkinson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and following his military service worked briefly as a Farmer in Ebenezer, LA and then began his career as a Welder. He and his wife then moved to Sulphur, LA in the early 1950’s when Mr. Atkinson began his career with City Service in Sulphur where he was employed for the next 28 years until his retirement. John enjoyed singing , joke telling, fishing , shrimping, crabbing, duck hunting and was an avid “shopper” and also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Atkinson is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Nolia Faulk Atkinson of Morse, LA; daughter, Linda A. Jacks and her husband Charles Darrell Jacks of Morse, LA; grandchildren Lauren Breaux and her husband Chad, Brent LeDoux and his wife Jada all of Morse, LA; step-grandchildren Hampton Jacks and his wife Katie of Angullia, MS and Megan Fontenot and her husband Kenny of Egan, LA as well as 12 great grandchildren and one “on the way”.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Eve Jones Atkinson; six sisters and six brothers.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be grandsons, Travis Schexnider, Trevor Breaux, Ty Breaux and nephews Tab Faulk, LeRoy Atkinson and Dale Atkinson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Doucet and David Johnson.
