Don was born on February 23, 1932 in Shamrock, Texas to Dave and Mabel Williams Dorman.
He was a dear and very loving husband who loved his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all of his family. Don also liked to go golfing and fishing. He and June, his wife of 66 years were former residents of Pecan Plantation for 31 years and they have been members of the Granbury Church of Christ since 1988. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. Don was a coach and a teacher, a principal, and the Superintendent of Schools in the Texas Panhandle.
He is survived by his wife, June Dorman of Granbury; daughter, Andra “Annie” Fergerson and Guy English of Overland Park, KS.; son, Gary Dorman and Lorrie of Amarillo, TX.; four grandchildren, Dustin Dorman and Heidi, Garrett Dorman, Keely Peterson and Torry and Braden Schlabs; five great-grandchildren, Caden Ramaekers, Presli Dorman, Hunter Dorman, Kannyn Peterson and Kyndal Peterson; brother, Jerry Dorman. Don was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Bus Dorman, Bud Dorman, Jr Dorman, B.F. Dorman and Charles Dorman and by two sisters, Halla Blanford and Viola Carver.
Don will lie in state for viewing from 10am. To 6pm. Wednesday; July 15, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM. Thursday; July 16, 2020 at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas with a Memorial Service following at 2 PM. Thursday at the Granbury Church of Christ, 1905 W. Pearl Street in Granbury.
