Ira Flippen

Funeral services for Ira Flippen who passed away on March 27th at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital were held on March 29th at two thirty o'clock at the McCarley Methodist Church. The Rev. H. L. Smith of Carrollton and the Rev N. J. Golding of Greenwood, the Rev. J. M. Corley of McCarley conducted the services. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery, Winona, under the direction of Oliver Funeral Home.

Pallbearers Were Raymond Flippen, Paul Flippen, Burdine Flippen, Harvey Englin, Edmond Chesteen, Billy Joe Foster, Robert Rivett, and Billy Armstrong.

Mr. Flippen, born on March 13, 1873 in Smith County, Tennessee, was married to Dessie Odell Dalton on January 15, 1913. He was a member of the McCarley Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Dessie Odell Flippen of McCarley, three daughters, Mrs. G. H. Fullilove of Winona, Miss Ruby Flippen of McCarley, and Mrs. W. E. Felts of Greenwood, and four sons, H. W. Flippen and S. B. Flippen, both of McCarley J. D. Flippen of Shreveport, La., and I. D. Flippen of Vicksburg.

He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Ester Bennett of Nashville, Tennessee., and three brothers, B. Flippen and J. T. Flippen of Lebannon, Tenn. and R. B. Flippen of Nashville.
