Eddie Lee Pumphrey, Sr., 86, died Sunday, Oct. 21 at the Care Inn Nursing Home at West Point. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Arbor Grove Baptist Church.

Mr. Pumphrey was born in Chickasaw County Oct. 13, 1893 to Marion and Cronelia Baird Pumphrey. His wife was the late Mrs. Cornelia Carter Pumphrey.

Funeral services were held at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, Oct. 22 with burial at Arbor Grove Cemetery. The Rev. James Cannon and the Rev. Joe Arnold officiated.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Lounez Hardin of West Point, Mrs. Ruth Hamby and Mrs. Florence Houser, both of Columbus, Mrs. Delia Mae McDonald, Okolona, Mrs. Annie Laura Weed, Houston and Mrs. Betty Maude Scott, Woodland; two sons, Eddie Lee Pumphrey, Jr. of Fresno, California, Rufus Pumphrey of Columbus; a brother, Charlie Pumphrey of Houston; 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Tommy Houser, Gerald Houser, Joe Scott, David McDonald, Tommy Pumphrey and William Scott.
