Lura was married on May 7, 1912 in Nashville as the 1st wife of Aaron Grady Denton (1890–1977), son of Minnie Lee (Rabun) (Denton) Wall (1871–1929) and her 1st husband William Aaron Denton (1869–1919).

Lura was an active member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and a charter member of the MOB Sunday School class there, and she had been active in PTA in Nashville.

Living on Utah Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, she was 67 years old and married when she died of a subarchnoid hemorrhage on March 30, 1960 at Nashville's Mid-State Nursing Home on State Street.

Survivors included her husband, daughters Mrs Lenard L Ball and Mrs Carl W Thomas in Nashville, son Joe F Denton of Mission, Kansas, four grandchildren, sister Mrs R L Witherington at Clearmont, Florida and five nieces and a nephew.

Funeral Services were held on April 2nd at Finley and Dorris Funeral Home, and burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Nashville.
