Johnnie B. Atkins, 81-year old retired farmer at Kilmichael, died May 7 at Riddell's Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. May 8 at Nations-Poplar Creek Baptist Church, Rev. H. B. Vinson officiating, assisted by Dan Beardain and Rev. William Kemp. Burial was in the church cemetery, Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Atkins, a native of Alabama, was a member of the Nations-Poplar Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Lee Crossley Atkins, Kilmichael; three children, L. 0. Atkins, Forest; and Mrs. Margie McKnight and Mrs. Paul Hood, both of Winona; a sister, Mrs. Buddy Hays, Vernon, Alabama; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Pearson, Jimmy Latham, W. A. Austin, Jr., Thomas McCoy, Wofford Nail, and Wayne Cartledge.
