John Leroy Stevens, Jr., 87, Rogersville, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2020 in his home.
He was born August 19, 1932 in Grainola, Oklahoma, the son of the late John Leroy Stevens, Sr. and Anna Edith (Jackson) Stevens. He was united in marriage on February 1, 1958 to Barbara J. Conner. She preceded him in death in 2016. He was also preceded in death by a son, John Duane Stevens; a daughter, Brenda Leah Stevens; a brother, Herschel, four sisters, Anna Mae, Rosa Lee, Norma Jean and Edith; and a half-sister, Desie.
John was a truck driver before his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was an avid fisherman and bingo player. In his younger years he enjoyed square dancing with his wife Barbara and wood cutting.
He is survived by a daughter, Debra Hull; four grandsons, Travis Morrison, Bradley Hull, Jonathan Stevens and Jeffery Stevens; a granddaughter, Cheyanne Stevens; a great grandson, Micheal Morrison; a brother, Donald Stevens, his life sister and “Bingo Buddy”, Romaine McHaffie.
Burial at McHaffie Cemetery.
