Herschel Lester Stevens 69 of Springfield Mo. passed away Saturday December 28, 2013 in his home surrounded by hi family. He was born October 1, 1944 in Springfield Mo. the son of John and Anna (Jackson) Stevens Sr. He was a member of Henderson Baptist Church two miles north of Rogersvlle Mo. at the intersection of B and D Highways. Herschel was united in marriage to Jane Beesley on November 5,171 in Springfield Mo. He enjoyed Drag Racing, Mud Racing, Four Wheeling, Camping and spending time in the outdoors. His passion was spending time with his family and being involved in their activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Leroy Sr. and Anna Edith Stevens, one son, Wesley Stevens and three sisters, Dessie Atteberry, Rosa Baxter, and Anna Mae Buchannon, He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Stevens of Springfield Mo. three children, Brian Stevens and wife Brenda, Larry Beesley all of Springfield Mo. and Jason Stevens and wife Kim of Repubic, eleven grandchildren, Amy, Renee, Kendall, Dillon, Tyler, Devin, Dusty, Harlea, Rilea, Holley and Wesley Jr. nine great grandchildren,Kalyn Skyler, Brandy, Cody, Lance, Cameron, Lylee, Heath and Margaret. two brothers, John Stevens Jr of Rogersville, and Don Stevens of Nixa, two sisters, Edith Todd of Springfield, and Norma Jean McHaffie of Fordland, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3p.m. Sunday December 29, 2013 st Greenlawn Funeral Hone North. Springfield Mo. with Pastor Jerry Cox officiating. Burial will be held in Mt Olive Freewill Baptist Cemetery, Fair Grove Mo.
Visitation will be held from 2-3p.m. on Sunday December 29, 2013 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
