Jose was welcomed into the world on July 19, 1938 in Agua Ramon, Colorado, the youngest child of Porfiria Cortez and Ysidoro Arellano. Married to Barbara Gomez Garcia in January 1961. He was a devoted father to Susan, Lisa, Jeffrey, and Cyndy; grandfather to Clint, Crystal, Angie, Matt, Desiree, Donnie, Donita, Xonkita, Precious, Margaret, Stanley, Erin, Jeffrey, David and Jacob; great grandfather to Ryver. In healthier times Jose loved to spend time visiting with friends and family, fishing, doing work on vehicles, working in his garden, and listening to New Mexico Music especially Al Hurricane.
Jose did one tour of duty in the United States Army enabling him to travel the world in a way he had not before. He supported his family thru mining, construction, and sheep shearing. He was a proud member of I.U.O.E. Local 400.
Jose was preceded in death by his parents Ysidoro and Porfiria Arellano, son Jeffrey, Sisters Ursulita, Bernabe, Elsira, Valentina, Odulia, Sisarita, Maria de la Luz, Maria Josephina, Cordelia and Carmen, brothers Celso, Celedonio, Antonio Domingo and Antonio.
He is survived by sister Ursulita Vigil, daughters, Susan (Jay) Burdette of Billings, MT, Lisa Arellano, and Cyndy (Stan) Munson, Jr. of Helena, MT.
A private graveside service and interment will take place at the Montana State Veteran's Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Due to Covid 19 restrictions military honors cannot be accorded. Memorials may be sent in Jose's name to the Dialysis Unit, c/o St. Peter's Hospital, 2475 Broadway, Helena, MT 59601 or Fresenius Kidney Care, Rocky Mountain Dialysis, 4600 Hale Pkwy. Ste 120, Denver, CO 80220, and/or a VA Facility of your choice.
