Pauline Wiesner, wife of Alexander Wiesner of Ellis, Kansas, died suddenly about 4 p.m. Thursday August 9, 1923, age fifty four years, six months and nine days, cause electrocution.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Alexander Wiesner of Ellis, and eleven living children as follows, J. M. Wiesner and Mrs. A. A. Herman of Hays, Mrs. Albert Staab of Catherine; Frank, Peter, Josepha, Mary, Joseph, Paul, and Fred of Ellis; Sister Vita of Chicago, Illinois; her father Andrew Meier of Hays; her brothers and sisters, Rev. Father Fidelis, O. M. Cap. of Victoria; Mrs. K. R. Bissing, Prof. Alex Meier of Collyer, Joe Meier of Victoria, Mrs. Fred Hoff and Mrs. Peter Bollig of Plainville. A son, Andrew, died at Cumberland, Maryland about four years ago while in the novitiate of the Capuchian Fathers.
She was married to Alexander Wiesner, May 1889 at Hays.
The deceased had gone to the basement of her home in Ellis where he was engaged in sorting and washing cucumbers from an iron vessel standing near a electric washer. Defective parts of the washer and connecting wires caused part of it to become charged with electricity, so that when she came in contact with same and the tubs, at which she was working, the incoming charge, according to electricians, caused her death.
The deceased lived most of her live in Hays, moving to Ellis with her husband and children in 1902, where they have since lived. Always a devout and consistent member of the Catholic Church, she had for a number of years, since moving from the farm into Ellis, been a daily attendant at Divine services and also a daily Communicant.
One of her latest plans was to to move to Hays to be with her children she and her husband had planned to send to the Hays schools during the coming term. She was for more than a quarter of a century a member of the Third Holy Order and also of the Christian Mothers Society being president of the latter at the time of her death. Funeral services at St. Mary's church at Ellis, Sunday, August 12.
Card of Thanks. We sincerely thank all neighbors and the many other friends for their kindness since the death of our beloved wife and mother.
