Betty was the eleventh of twelve children - six girls and six boys. Her sisters were: Viola, Velma, Dorothy, Lelia and Marguerite. Her brothers included: John Lindsey, Charley, Kenneth, RL (Pat), Billy and Bobby.
She went to grade school at Midway, OK graduating the 8th grade. Then she went to Reydon High School graduating in 1948. On April 2, 1949 she married Carl Kendall. To this union seven children were born. Carla, Judy, Neal, Ginger, Jalene, Kimberly and Roger.
They were married 42 years, until Carl's death in 1990. They lived and worked on the Kendall farm for about 9 or 10 years, then bought and operated Kendall's Grocery Store in Roll, Oklahoma where they lived for 20 years.
After selling the grocery store, Betty went to work at McDaniel's Variety Store for a short time. When McDaniel's sold out to Bill Hanawalt, Betty stayed on and worked for Hanawalt for 26 years. She married Bill Hanawalt on October 20, 1994 and moved to Cheyenne, OK. They were happily married for 10 years.
She loved to sew, make quilts, a Thunder fan and was somewhat a poet. She also loved having her grandchildren around as much as possible.
Preceding her in death, were her parents and all of her siblings, as well as her 1st husband, Carl Kendall, her 2nd husband, Bill Hanawalt, two daughters Judy Kendall Smith, Carla Kendall Compton and her son Neal Kendall.
She is survived by her remaining children, Ginger and husband, Rodney Pope of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Jalene and husband Austin Parkhurst of Mannford, Oklahoma, Kimberly and husband, Clay Rogers of Newalla, Oklahoma and Roger Kendall and wife, Judith of Australia.
She was so proud of all her children and grandchildren which she loved dearly.
Her grandchildren are: Dustin Parkhurst, Andy Pope, Ryan Smith, Jeff Parkhurst, Logan Rogers, Felicia Rogers, Isabella Kendall and Oscar Kendall.
Her great grandchildren are: Trinity, Aubrey, Avery, Owen, Marlow, Kyson, Bailyn, Keedyn, Kamdyn and great great grandchild, Rowan and a host of relatives and friends.
A private family graveside will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Silent Home Cemetery. A memorial service will be held for the public at a later date.
