Charles "Booty" Cooksey
Charles "Booty Cooksey, 70, of Palestine died Monday at his home.
Mr. Cooksey will be cremated with arrangements under the direction of Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home.
Mr. Cooksey was born Aug. 31, 1933 in Crockett to the late Frank Cooksey and San Francisco "Cisco" Johnson Cooksey. He was raised in Crockett and had lived in Palestine most of his life. He was a Baptist.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired dispatcher for the police department.
Mr. Cooksey was preceded in death by a sister by only a few hours, Opal McManus; and a brother, John Robert Cooksey.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Cooksey of Palestine; daughter, Charlotte Cooksey Bice of Palestine; brother, Ben Frank Cooksey of Elkhart; three sisters, Mable Chapman and Bessie Anderson, both of Elkhart, and Ivy Vernon of Houston; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler, Texas 75701.
