We are thankful for the time we had to nurture and take care of him since Mother has been gone. We have never known a more kind and honest man who was willing to sacrifice his "all" for his family. He held true to the legacy of his grandfather, James Bertoch, who sacrificed so much to leave his home in Italy and immigrate to Utah in 1854. Our father was named after this great man who came before him and had many of his great characteristics, especially his devotion to his cherished wife.
Dad was dedicated to his children, grandchildren, and his special needs great-granddaughter, Susie. Dad was born at home in Granger, Utah, Jan. 20, 1908 to William Joseph and Ethel Hemenway Bertoch. He was the third of a family of seven children, six boys and one girl. He attended Granite and Cyprus High Schools and also attended two years at the LDS University in Salt Lake City.
Dad married Margaret Ann Meik Oct. 26, 1932 in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 71 years. She preceded him in death on January 21st 2004. Dad was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Jordan Canal. He was ordained a high priest in 1975. Dad worked at Kennecott Smelter for 32 years and retired in 1973.
Funeral Services were held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, October 10th 2006 at the East Millcreek 15th Ward Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 3750 South Hillside Lane (2600 East).
A Viewing for Family and Friends was held One Hour Prior to Services at the Church.
Graveside Services followed at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah where he was buried beside his Beloved Wife Margaret.
