* 2006 Obituary - The Daily Telegram, Superior, Wisconsin - 11/15/2006 - Gerald "Jerry" Theodore Lawler, 79, of Bennett, passed away Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He served his country in the Navy during WWII. When he returned home, he married Violet M. Wood on July 19, 1947. Together they raised six children and four adopted children. He worked 38 years for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of the American Legion Post 499 of Gordon. He was preceded in death by his mother, his father, one brother, a brother-in-law, and a niece. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Violet; his sons, David (Barbara) of Ramsey, Minn., Jack (Lucy) of Chippewa Falls, and Troy of Bennett; his daughters, Vivian Ormston of Superior, Roxanne (Albert) Miller of Superior and Lori (David) Bjerklien of Bennett; his adopted daughters, Louise Burnham of California, Peggy Crowell of Brainerd, Minn., Loyce (Larry) Enerson of Forest Lake, Minn., and Fran (Jimmie) Yadon of Bennett; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Robert (Shirley) of Wascott and Jimmie (Charlene) of Columbia Heights, Minn.; his sisters, Sue (George) Bolos of South Range, Grace Lambert of Wisconsin, Joyce (Bill) Frahm of Wascott and Linda (Richard) Hankins of Anoka, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Bennett Cemetery with Dennis Kelleher officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Lockman-Jensen Post 499. Aaron Bjerklien, Casey Lawler, Michael Lawler, Forrest Terry, Peter Yadon and Loren Yadon will all serve as pallbearers. Downs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
