ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. WIREY
Aged Widow Dies at Hospital Here Friday – Funeral at Franklin
Mrs. Henrietta Wirey, 77, widow of the late Charles Wirey, died at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning at the county hospital where she had been in a critical condition since last Wednesday. She had been in failing health for several years.
Mrs. Wirey was released from the Johnson County Memorial Hospital three weeks ago and taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles McKay of this city. Her condition became worse Wednesday and she was admitted to the local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock (DST) Monday morning at the Vandivier funeral home in Franklin.
She was born in Bartholomew County Jan. 1, 1872, the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Daum Goetz, and spent most of her life in Edinburg and Franklin. Mrs. Wirey was the last of 12 children. On Sept. 29, 1892, she married Mr. Wirey.
Surviving are the children Harold Wirey of Edinburg; Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Arthur Miller and Mrs. Bruce Burton, all of Columbus; James Wirey of Indianapolis; and Lester Wirey and Mrs. Neal Allen, both of Franklin; 13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Wirey died Oct. 30, 1947.

HENRIETTA WIREY DIES AT COLUMBUS
Mrs. Henrietta Wirey, 77, widow of the late Charles Wirey, died in Bartholomew County Hospital, Firday morning at 9:30 o'clock.
She had been in failing health for several years and had been a patient in Johnson County Memorial Hospital. She was released from there three weeks ago and had gone to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles McKay at Columbus. Her condition became critical last Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs. Wirey was admitted to the Hospital there.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but will be announced in Saturday's Star.
Mrs. Wirey was the daughter of Joseph [Jacob] Goetz and Elizabeth Doud [Daum] Goetz. She was born in Bartholomew county, January 1, 1872, and most of her life had been spent in Edinburg and Franklin.
She was married to Mr. Wirey at Columbus on September 29, 1892, and seven children were born to this union.
In girlhood Mrs. Wirey united with the St. John's German Lutheran Church near Columbus, but after she became a resident here, she transferred her membership to the Grace Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wirey is survived by all of her children. They are Harold Wirey, of Edinburg; Mrs. McKay, Mrs. Arthur Miller, Mrs. Bruce Burton, all of Columbus; James Wirey of Indianapolis; Lester and Mrs. O'Neal Allen, of Franklin.
Other survivors include 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Wirey died Oct. 30, 1947.

HENRIETTA WIREY SERVICES ARE HELD
Last rites were conducted for Mrs. Henrietta Wirey, age 77, widow of the late Charles Wirey, Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the Vandivier funeral home.
The Rev. Golden A. Smith, pastor of the Grace Methodist church, was in charge of the service. Interment was in Greenlawn cemetery.
The casket was carried by Kenneth Long, James Wirey, Jr., Merle Wirey, Charles Pullem, George Howard, and Ebert True.
