She was born on December 22, 1919 in Donaldonville, Georgia to the late Peter Smith and Cora Harp. She was proceeded in death by two sons, Bernard and Edward Barber, a sister Catherine Nicholson and four brothers, Mack D. Barber, Rev. John H. Holden, Willie "Pig" Barber and her last remaining brother Leroy "Boot" Barber who passed away January 26, 2018 in Riverside California.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories; four daughters, Hazel Barber Owens, Tina Glenn, Wanda Barber and Shirlyn Brown of Tallahassee, FL; six sons, Delmas (Gloria) Barber, Kenneth (Cassie) Barber, Harold (Wendy) Barber, William Glenn and Jerome Barber all of Tallahassee, FL and Calvin (Karen) Barber of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the proud grandmother to 25 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her memories will also be cherished by a host of family, neighbors and friends.

The body will lie in state at the Greater Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, 866 Golden Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304, on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. where the family will receive visitors during this time.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center, 2344 Lake Bradford Road, Tallahassee, FL 32310, with burial at Southside Cemetery.
