A native and life-long resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Charlie Cleve and Mary Ethel Ashe Harris, and was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jack Edward Harris and Glenn Wade Harris; 1 sister, Sarah Lou Hawkins.
He was a member Woodward Ave. Church of God and was formerly employed as a farm hand.

6 sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Hawkins of Cleveland, Anna Lunsford of Andrew, North Carolina, Patricia and David Phillips of Okeechobee,Florida, Margie and Frank Couey of Riceville, Lona Mae and Robert White of Athens, and Dorothy and Frankie Sewell of Tellico Plains;
1 brother, Clyde Harris of Athens
Several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews;
Funeral services will be 7:00 PM, Friday, December 20, 2019 in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Smallwood officiating.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 21, 2019 at McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
