Jack Edward Harris, 76, of Athens, passed away Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.
He was a native of Murphy, N.C., a lifelong resident of McMinn County, and was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Cleve Harris; and sister, Sarah Lou Hawkins. He was a farmer and was a member of Woodward Church of God.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Ethel Ashe Harris of Athens, and formerly of Murphy, N.C.; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Hawkins of Cleveland, Anna Mae Lunsford of Andrews, N.C., Patricia Jean and David Phillips of Boaz, Ala., Margie and Frank Couey of Riceville, Lona Mae and Robert White of Athens, and Dorothy and Frankie Sewell of Tellico Plains; three brothers and sister-in-law, Joe Henry Harris of Athens, Clyde Cleve Harris of Athens, and Glenn Wade and Linda Harris of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Fritts and the Rev. George Conners officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m. Thursday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Robert White, Frankie Sewell, Daniel Couey, Jerry Hawkins, Donnie Couey, Gus Hawkins, and Frank Couey.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
