Louise was born in the village of Tating, Garding Parish, Kreis Eiderstedt. She married in Hamburg 19 February 1881 to Ernst Paul Maximilian (Paul Ernest) Leschke , and the couple came to the United States about 1883 and settled first in Texas. The oldest of their seven children was born in Germany and died in infancy. Only two of their children lived to adulthood, a son named Otto and a daughter, Louise Wilhelmina Magdalena Leschke. Otto never married and died at age 63. Young Louise died at age 27 leaving a husband (who died days later) and daughter. Paul and Louise adopted their granddaughter.
