Pickens, SC - April 19, Mrs. Lenora Chastain, 68, one of Pickens County's well known women, died this morning after an illness of one week. She was a member of Griffin Baptist Church and had lived in this county all her life.
She is survived by her husband, Nelson Chastain, and the following children: Miss Ida Chastain, Miss Leova Chastain, Mrs. Mary Greer, Oscar, Webb and Furman Chastain; one sister, Miss Savannah Masters and the following half-sisters and brothers: Mrs. Laura Williams, Mrs. Lula Hamby, Mrs. Dora Simpson, Mrs. Bertha Chastain, Mrs. Cumie Clark, Mrs. Susie Hendricks, Mrs. Beulah McCall and Esley and Dewey Masters
Funeral rites will be held from Griffin Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. F. S. Childress and the Rev. H. A. Newton. Interment will be in the churchyard. Pallbearers: Victor Williams, Harrison Williams, Albert Clark, Gordon Powell, Thomas Powell and Shirley McNeely. Honorary pallbearers, as follow, are asked to meet at the church at 3:45 o'clock: Early Hendricks, George Moore, Barney Porter, A. A. Pace, Ed Boggs, Furman Trotter, J. H. Banks, W. R. Powell, Charles Childs and Wilson Cauley.
