She was the daughter of William Monroe and Mary Elizabeth (Evans) Thompson and married George Ruben Bailey - 03 Dec 1905 - Franklin Co., Tennessee. Her obituary follows:

Mrs. Bailey Dies of Long Illness --

Mrs. Susan Thompson Bailey of Cowan, wife of George Bailey, died Monday morning at Harton Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She was 88.

Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. The Rev. Ray Gardner officiated. Burial was in Montgomery Cemetery in Cowan.

Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of Mary Evans Thompson and William Thompson. She was a native of Jackson County, Alabama, born May 5, 1887.

She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Other survivors are two sons, Elijah Bailey and Jackie Bailey, both of Cowan; five daughters, Mrs. Cecil Jackson, Huntsville, Alabama, Mrs. Bertha Henley, Addison, Illinois, Mrs. Evelyn Edwards, Laurel, Maryland, Mrs. Clara Hanson, Estill Springs, Mrs. Nancy Garner, Little Rock, Arkansas; three sisters, Mrs. Kate Bohannon, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ida Bohannon and Mrs. Donie Hunt, both of Winchester; two half-sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hughes, Bridgeport, Alabama, and Mrs. Mae Southard, New Market, Alabama; 22 grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren.
