Eileen Poulton (nee Carroll), 81, of Cuyahoga Falls, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009.
Eileen was born in Akron to Irish immigrants, Jeremiah Carroll of Cork City, County Cork, and Katie (Chambers) Carroll of Shamore, County Mayo, on April 1, 1927. She graduated from St. Mary's Grade School and St. Mary's High School (Class of '45) before attending Business College. She worked in the insurance industry for a number of years, later retiring from GoJo Industries in 2000. A lifetime member of St. Mary's Parish, she also belonged to St. Monica's Guild there. Proud of her Irish heritage, Eileen was of a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Margaret Judge Division.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Nora Silva; and brother, Jeremiah "Jerry" Carroll. Her survivors include brother, John Carroll of Cuyahoga Falls; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Warrick; brother-in-law, Dean Sprague; several nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Dr. Gayleen Kolaczewski.
The family would like to thank Akron General Hospital, Senior Independence Hospice and Rocky Knoll for their kindness and professional care.
Calling hours will be on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dunn-Quigley Funeral Home (811 Grant St.) where the Ladies A.O.H. will recite the Rosary at 5:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, interment, Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church.
