The funeral service for John Pearson Curlee, age 91 of Ashland, will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Ashland with the Rev. Bill Brown and Rev. Mark Curlee officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashland City Cemetery.

Mr. Curlee passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the Regional Medical Center in Anniston. A lifelong native of Clay County, he worked for White Furniture Company in Ashland for over 42 years. He never hired a repairman, because he could fix anything. He loved to buy and sell trucks and tinker with cars. He also worked as a carpenter and enjoyed gardening. He loved to help his friends and neighbors. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ashland and The Fellowship Sunday School Class.

He is survived by two daughters: Cheryl Simpkins, husband Ronnie of Pell City; Brenda Dickinson, husband Jim of Sylacauga; one son, David Curlee, wife Martha of Opelika; two sisters: Katie Gravette of Ashland; Ailene Foster, husband Pete of Bridgeport; sister-in-law, Joyce Curlee of Ashland; three grandchildren: Emily Beth Dickinson, Hannah Lee Thomas, husband Jordan and Ollie Thorpe Simpkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Thomas Curlee and Ada Mae Carpenter Curlee; his wife of 59 years, Geraldine "Gerrie" Curlee; one sister, Sara Sparks and three brothers: Jesse Curlee Jr., James Curlee and Charles Curlee.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Benefiield Funeral Home in Ashland on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
