Charles "Buddy" Curlee
(August 14, 2018)

The funeral service for Charles "Buddy" Curlee, age 84 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Bellview Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Adams and Rev. Mare Curlee officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Curlee passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Clay County Hospital. A native and life-long resident of Ashland, Mr. Curlee was a graduate of Clay County High School. He worked as a T.V. repairman for White's Furniture in Ashland for over 26 years and found that beside T.V. sets, there really wasn't any kind of small appliance that he couldn't fix. To Bubby, something being broke wasn't a problem, it was a challenge that he truly looked forward to.

He was well known for the beautiful yard that he kept up - the envy of the neighborhood - and was also a man of many skills and talents, as he could grow a garden, do carpenter work, plumbing and electrical work. Buddy just loved to work and could do just about anything. In addition, he had served as a member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years and as an avid supporter of the Ashland Panthers had been a member of the Ashland Quarterback Club. Mr. Curlee was a member of First Baptist Church of Ashland and had most recently been attending Bellview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Curlee of Ashland; one daughter, Connie Proctor (David) of Lineville; two sisters: Katie Gravette of Ashland and Ailene Foster (Pete) of Bridgeport, Al; one brother, John Curlee of Ashland; two grandchildren: Christopher Proctor of Baton Rouge, LA and Brooklyn Proctor of New Orleans, LA.

Mr. Curlee was preceded in death by his parents: Jesse Thomas Curlee and Ada Mae Carpenter Curlee; one sister, Sara Sparks and two brothers: Jesse Curlee Jr. and James Curlee.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Proctor, Jimmy Smith, Alan Curlee, Randy Sparks, David Curlee Miles Mathis and Wayne Robbins. Mr. Curlee's nephews and the members of Bellview Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
