Louie was a life-time farmer and worked for Couples Aluminum Products, Missouri State Penitentiary, and Patio Chef in Meta until his retirement. He was an avid coon and fox hunter and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Louie attended the Church of Nazarene for his entire 96 years of life.
In addition to his wife of 76 years, Mary Barnhart, he is also survived by four children, Earlyn (Barnhart) Hoppas of Vienna, Shelby Barnhart (Cheryl) of Meta, Billy Barnhart (Marlene) of Meta, and Phyllis (Barnhart) Shanks (Darrell) of Vienna; grandchildren, Rex Earl Barnhart, Robin Lynn Ternet, Stacy Fuller, Curtis Barnhart, Heather Lee Barnhart, Michelle Lee Barnhart, Darren Wayne Shanks, and Lorrie Jane Shanks; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Roscoe Barnhart of St. Charles.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, at Ricker Memorial Church of the Nazarene in Van Cleve with Bro. Bob Hamm and Bro. Manuel Seaton officiating. Interment will be in Pendleton Cemetery near Meta.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Meta.
