The former Abbie Hughs was born September 10, 1897 in Fisher County. She was graduated from Roby High School in 1914 and attended Hardin-Simmons University and the University of Southern California.

She married George Dewey Dickie April 5, 1921, in Roby, Texas. She and Mr. Dickie made their home in Woodson and resided there the remainder of their lives. Miss Abbie taught music at Woodson and Throckmorton schools. She and her husband were directors and officers of the Woodson State Bank. Miss Abbie was a member of the Woodson United Methodist Church and the Throckmorton chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Miss Abbie, age 83, died in Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. The funeral services were at the United Methodist Church in Woodson with pastor Rev. Joe B. Allen officiating. Her grandsons and nephews were pallbearers.

Survivors include two daughters, Beth Geiger of Abilene and Lynn Edwards of Irving; two sons, George Dickie, Jr., and Winston Dickie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers.
