Buck Hughs

Roby - Buck T. Hughs, 80, a longtime Roby resident, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday in Fisher County Hospital.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home. The Rev. Loren Gardner, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery.

Born Oct. 23, 1899 in the Cross Roads Community in Fisher County, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hughs. The family moved to Roby in 1904. He married Floy Jim Warner on July 31, 1926 in Roby.

He was the manager of the Burton-Lingo Lumber Company in Roby for over 20 years and retired in 1965. Since that time, he had been involved in farming and ranching. He attended Hardin-Simmons University and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Roby.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Buck F. Hughs of Sweetwater; four daughters, Mrs. Darrell (Neva) Sims of Robstown, Mrs. J. K. (Francis) Farrar of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Jackie Blakely of Plano and Mrs. Stanley (Evelyn) Nowlin of Rotan; a sister, Mrs. George D. Dickey, Sr. of Woodson; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and nephews will be pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the building fund of First United Methodist Church in Roby.
