Lynn’s paternal grandparents came to Woodson around 1900 where her grandfather began as a farmer and rancher. Lynn cherished her memories of growing up in Woodson and of the Dickie Ranch, parts of which have been in the Dickie family for over 100 years.
Lynn attended school in Woodson, was graduated from Sullins College Academy in Bristol, Virginia, and earned a B.B.A. from the University of North Texas. Lynn married David Gray of Breckenridge and to that marriage was born Dickie Gray, who carries his mother’s maiden name. Lynn married Everett Spencer Edwards, Jr. and they began their family with children from previous marriages: Dickie Gray, Mike Edwards, and Phyllis Edwards Brewer who predeceased Lynn. Everett and Lynn had one child together, Abbie Edwards Lintner, who carries her maternal grandmother’s first name.
The Edwards family moved to Irving in September of 1959 where Dickie, Abbie, and Mike grew up together. Lynn retired from the Irving Independent School District having worked as an attendance clerk at Travis Junior High. Following her retirement, she volunteered at a hospital in Irving. Lynn remained in the family home in Irving until her health necessitated a move to an assisted living center.
Survivors include children, Dickie Gray and wife Brenda of Breckenridge, Abbie Edwards Lintner and husband James of Grapevine, and Mike Edwards and wife Ann of Woodson; grandchildren, Christen Edwards Garcia, Cody Edwards, Kara Lintner Wise and husband Keith, Jamie Lintner and wife Alyssa, Jennifer Brewer, and Matthew Brewer; great-grandchildren, Cayden Wise, Corbyn Wise, and Carsyn Wise; and a host of other family members and life-long friends.
Mrs. Edwards requested that the poems “Footprints” and “Come with Me” be read at her graveside service at the Woodson Cemetery which was on July 20, 2015. On the double pre-need headstone, Mrs. Edwards and her husband chose the inscription of “In God We Trust.”
The family is grateful for the loving care and support Lynn received from her caregivers and neighbors.
