Daughter of Troy Carroll and Evelyn Cornelia Rowell Atkinson. Miriam married John Smith Donovan on December 17, 1949.

Miriam Atkinson Donovan passed away peacefully on February 11, 2018 at the age of 93. She was born in Marion, SC to Troy and Evelyn Atkinson and grew up on the family farm. In 1949, Miriam graduated from the School of Nursing at Duke University, where she met and married John Donovan. After a happy marriage of 67 years, John preceded Miriam in death two years ago.

As a nurse, Miriam was particularly proud of her work at the famed Menninger Psychiatric Clinic in Topeka, Kansas. Later, after raising a family, she was as a popular school nurse in Cinnaminson, NJ.

Always with a smile on her face, "Mimi" was known for her green thumb, enjoyed playing bridge with friends, and was a loyal fan of the Phillies and Blue Devils basketball.

A loving wife and mother, she is survived by two sons, John Donovan and Kevin Donovan; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Grace Cathedral in Charleston, SC on April 21, 2018
