Mary Brackett Blanton, 97, of Lawndale, NC, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, NC on February 15, 1922, daughter of the late Edley Franklin Brackett (1890–1953) and Lula Hoyle Brackett (1900–1982); wife of the late James Franklin Blanton (1920–2018) for 81 years.

Worked for Cleveland Mill Power Company, retired from Shadowline, and was a member of Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Tommy Blanton, Jimmie Blanton (Brenda), and Ronnie Blanton (Angela); daughters, Linda Hartley (Mike), Beth Blanton Bridges (1952–2022) and son-in-law, Terry Bridges; sisters, Nancy Jeanette Brackett Pearson (1938–2022) and Phyllis Brackett Waters; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Also preceded in death by five siblings, John Hershell Brackett (1925–1927), Mildred Brackett Costner (1928–2012), Coy Franklin Brackett (1930-2011), Carl Jackson Brackett (1932-2005), and Connie Ruth Brackett Morris (1935-2010).

The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2019, at Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church, Lawndale.

The funeral followed at 3:00 pm with the Rev. Harry Queen officiating; burial in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston, NC.
