Mildred Brackett Costner, 84, of 109 Water Mill Road, Kernersville, NC passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at the KB Reynolds Hospice House in Winston-Salem.
A native of Lawndale, she had been living with her daughter and son-in-law for the past seven years and for the past two years in Kernersville. She retired from Sparta Mills in Lawndale.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Edley and Lula Brackett; husband, George Costner; sister, Connie Morris; and brothers, Carl and Coy Brackett.
She is survived by daughter, Hilda Brackett (Eddie); sisters, Mary Blanton (Jim); Phyllis Waters (Jack) and Nancy Person (Ray); and granddaughters, Jennifer Walton(Matt) and Amee Wojdyla (Paul) and great grandchildren, Noah and Nehemiah Walton and Axel Wojdyla. She will be greatly missed by her buddie, Domino.
She lived in Lawndale until 1995 when she went to live in Wendell, NC with her daughter. While in Cleveland County, she was a faithful member of Morris Memorial Baptist Church. At her death, she was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church in Winston-Salem where her son-in-law is pastor.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 3:00 PM. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, Fallston, with the Rev. Eddie Brackett, Rev. Chris Emory, and Rev. Matthew Walton. The burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will also recieve friends at the funeral home from 1:30 to 3:00 PM on Sunday.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Waughtown Baptist Church. With a visitation following at 2:00 PM at the church.
