Martin Albert Wells, 51, of Raven, Va., died suddenly of a heart attack Monday afternoon shortly after arriving at Richlands Hospital.

Born in Swords Creek, Va., the son of the late W.E and Clercy Richardson Wells, he was co-owner of the Wells Fuller Coal Co. in Buchanan County. He moved to Raven from Swords Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Wade Wells; three daughters, Mrs. Annabella Jamison of Detroit, Mich., Carrie and Katie Wells of the home; two sons, Howard Wells of Richlands, Billy Wells of Parris, Tenn.; his step-mother, Mrs. Maude Wells of Raven; four sisters, Mrs. Jettie Wilson of Swords Creek, Mrs. Grace Compton of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Ethel Shultz of West Hyattsville, Md., Mrs. Ira Hurndon of Raven; two brothers, Earl Wells of Swords Creek, Rev. Carter Wells of Richlands; four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. Richlands, Va., Tabernacle with Rev. Perry Herndon and Rev. H.P. Venerable in charge. Burial will be in Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery.
The body will be taken from the residence to the church one hour prior to services.
Farmer Funeral Home of Richland is in charge.
