Darrell was the son of the late Oscar Wesley and the late Retha Accord Wesley. Darrell is survived by a son, a daughter-in-law, two grandsons, and a sister.

Darrell was a retired electrical engineer, working first for Westinghouse/ABB in Athens, Georgia, and then Ermco in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Darrell was a genealogist and family historian, and enjoyed having the time to devote to this endeavor in his retirement. He generously provided much appreciated historical and genealogical information to family on all branches of his family tree. He authored and published a book containing extensive information about his roots as a descendant of Samuel Elder, one of the two founders of Eldorado, Saline County, Illinois. His contributions to family history is a wonderful legacy that he has left for the generations to follow.
