Tom “Coolie” Ahlbrecht, age 63, of Gibbon passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at Augustana Lutheran Church in Gibbon with Pastor Erik Karlson officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church in Gibbon.

Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie; children, Leyla Ahlbrecht, Tim Ahlbrecht and Megan (Ryan) Hillmann; grandson, Nathan Serbus; brothers, Ted Ahlbrecht, Marvin Ahlbrecht Jr.; brother and sister – in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Mutz; brothers, Todd and Terry Ahlbrecht; infant sister; father and mother – in-law, Arnold and Catherine Schwieger; brother and sister –in-law, Ian and Colleen Pelton and niece, Sarah Gornick.
Thomas Henry Ahlbrecht was born May 16, 1955 at the Gaylord Community Hospital to Marvin and Myrtle “Mutz” (Sell) Ahlbrecht. Tom attended school in Gibbon. He married Julie Schwieger on September, 15, 1973 at St. Andrew’s Church in Fairfax. Tom enjoyed farming and driving semi for many years. Tom loved spending his summers up at Ottertail Lake with his lake family. He loved spending time with his family out on the pontoon and late night bonfires. You could always count on Tom’s sense of humor and smart comments. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family especially his grandson Nathan
