MARY BARBAY OBITUARY
Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Anderson Barbay, affectionately known as Gramee', passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in her home surrounded by family on December 21, 2018. Mangham, Louisiana, Liz graduated from Louisiana Tech and made her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She enjoyed tennis, golf, traveling, working in her yard, entertaining, and most of all loving and spoiling her family and friends. Liz is survived and adored by her daughter, Jon Barbay Blumberg and husband, Barry Owen Blumberg, granddaughter, Leila Burkett Blumberg, grandson, Robert Anderson Blumberg and wife, Kathryn Melder Blumberg, and three great-grandsons, Robert Owen Blumberg, Anderson Patrick Blumberg, Evan Breaux Blumberg, and numerous nieces and nephews who all held a special place in her heart. A celebration of the life of Mary Elizabeth Anderson Barbay will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church at 3550 Morning Glory Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, December 22, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. followed by services at noon. Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Aloysius Barbay, parents, Arthur Clifford Anderson and Clarissa Burkett Anderson, brother, Rufus Burkett Anderson, sisters, Marie Anderson Busby and Hattie Mae Anderson Norris, and niece, Jane Norris Goode. Pallbearers will be Andy Blumberg, Paul Norris, David Norris, Regi Mullins, Logan Killen, and Wayne Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Busby, Norris Cooley, Robert Blumberg, Elton Turnipseed, Charles (Rusty) Hebert, Bill Smith, and Rhett Anderson. Special thanks to her caregivers, Audrey Thomas, Eloise Martello, and Lakeeshia Lollis, Pinnacle Home Health, Sylvia Nicolei, Pinnacle Hospice, Penny Perkins, and her friends and the staff at Williamsburg Senior Living. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church of Baton Rouge, Trinity Episcopal Day School of Baton Rouge, or Sacred Heart Church of Baton Rouge.
