Retired FBI Special Agent AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Friday, June 1, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Augusta, Mr. William H. Gooding, beloved husband of Betty S. Gooding of Martinez. Mr. Gooding was a native of Hampton, SC and had lived in the Augusta area since 1968. He attended Notre Dame as a midshipman. Mr. Gooding served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a 2nd Lt. and ship's navigator on an LSD in the Philippines. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of South Carolina and was a retired Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation for over 30 years. He was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and Green Meadows Country Club. Other family members include his son: William Henry Gooding, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Evans, GA; daughters: Elizabeth G. Reiss of Charleston and Gilda G. Curry and her husband Nathan of Woodstock, GA; grandchildren, Alan Craig Musser, Jr., Benjamin Rogers Gooding, Nathan Charles Curry, Jr., Matthew William Gooding, Kyle Patrick Curry and Madeleine Grace Curry; brothers, John Bernard Gooding, Sr. of Savannah, GA and Lewis Benjamin Gooding and his wife Mary of Hampton, SC. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 4th , 2007, at 11:00 AM. at First Baptist of Augusta with Rev. Greg DeLoach officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM at the Gooding Family Cemetery in Crocketville, SC. If so desired memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 2708 W.
