Marian Jane Norwood, 87, of Normal, died at 2:03 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at her home.

Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington with Rev. Michael Pica officiating. There will be a family prayer at 2:30 p.m., Friday at the Riley Catholic Cemetery in Rutland, IL. There will be no visitation. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Marian was born December 24, 1931 in Rutland, Illinois, the daughter of Henry Joseph and Kathryn Alicia Patten Schmillen. She married William E. Norwood on September 26, 1953 in Rutland. He died on June 8, 2011.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn (Michael) Hartzler of Bloomington and Debra (Scott) Rolfs of Bloomington; two sons, Robert E. (Patrick) Norwood of Normal and James (Ann) Norwood of Clayton, CA; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Julie) Hartzler, Brianna Evans, Joshua (Ashley) Rolfs, Katie (Jason) Boyer, Brigid Shanley, Declan Shanley and Alexander Norwood; ten great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tiffany, Abigail, Dominic, Jade, Samuel, Kali, Nathan, Jordyn and Ethan; one great-great grandchild, Norman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Ed, Bob, Jim and Thomas Schmillen and five sisters, Grace Bogdonovich, Mary Agnes Kelm, Alice Marks, Mildred Orth and Ruth Lauf.

Marian was a member of the Altar & Rosary Society in Rutland as well as the Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed her bowling league. She had a love of music and was always listening to a variety of musical artists. Two of her favorites were Engelbert Humperdinck and Patsy Cline.

To Marian her family always came first. Her children considered her the perfect mother. She was known for her baking skills, especially her homemade cookies and pies. She loved to dance, playing bingo and collecting bells and coins. She also loved Jeopardy and lotto scratch off tickets.
