Winfield Boyd, 68, a farmer, died at his home in the Taintor district Saturday afternoon after an illness of a year or more. The end came suddenly at last as Mr. Boyd had been up and walked to the barn only a short time before he died. He was born in Wilmington, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Boyd, who had a family of 14 children, eight of whom survive, Riley and Albert of Wilmington, Robert of Boston, George of Dover, Mrs. Helen Esterbrook Blodgett of Wardsboro, Mrs. Calista Stowe, Mrs. Ida Dix and Mrs. Rosa Dix of this town. Early in life Winfield Boyd married Miss Flora Bailey, who survives, with eight children, Will, Sam, Charles and Luther, Mrs. Samantha Morse and Mrs. Nettie Dix, all of this town, also Mrs. Cora Aldrich of Wilmington and Mrs. Hattie Decker of Brattleboro. One son, Walter, died in this town a few years ago, leaving a wife and four children. There are 22 grandchildren. The funeral was held at the house Monday at 11 o'clock, Rev. E. M. Bissel of Wilmington officiating. The burial was in Wilmington.
