Mrs. Samantha Sophina (Boyd) Morse, 50, wife of Charles B. Morse, died at her home about 11 a.m. Sunday. Although in poor health many months her condition had not been considered serious until she sustained a shock Thursday, April 18, from which she never regained consciousness. She was lovingly and tenderly cared for by members of her family. Mrs. Morse was born in Somerset, Oct. 12, 1878, a daughter of Winfield and Flora (Bailey) Boyd. She was one of twins, the other dying in infancy. On June 1, 1898. she was married to Frank W. Aldrich of Wilmington. Of this marriage two sons were born; Herbert, now of Springfield, Mass., and one dying at the age of six months. Mr. Aldrich died Dec. 28, 1904. The marriage of Mrs. Aldrich to Charles B. Morse took place in Whitingham on April 18, 1907. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Morse; Harry, Wendell, Cora and Byron, all of whom are at home. Besides her husband and children she leaves a step-son, Elliot C. Morse, her aged mother, Mrs. Winfield Boyd; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Aldrich of Wilmington, Mrs. Hattie Decker of Brattleboro and Mrs. Nettie Dix of Whitingham, and four brothers, Sam of Wilmington, Luther of Buckland and Charles of this town. Mrs. Morse was a member of no organization but was devoted to her home and family for whom the deepest sympathy is felt by the whole community. Funeral services were held at the house at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Mr. Dorst officiating. Burial was in Wilmington.
