August was born March 30, 1924 in Evansville to the late August and Alma (Wagner) Bender.
In addition to his parents, August was preceded in death by sisters, Elizabeth and Anna Bender and Emma Butsch; brothers, Phillip, Gilbert, Julius and Bill Bender and by a grandchild, Heath Bender.

Burial will be in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
