Alma (Bender) Gantner, 93, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 6, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. She was born January 10, 1927 in Evansville to the late August and Alma (Wagner) Bender.

Alma was the youngest and she was raised on a farm with 8 brothers and sisters, Philip, Anna, Julius, Emma, Gilbert, Elizabeth, Bill and August.

Alma was married to her late husband, Calvin Gantner, of 64 years, and was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter-in-law, Madelene Gantner and her son-in-law, Dickie Temme.

They raised three children, Gary Gantner, Angela Temme and Anita (David) Dausman. Alma had 5 grandchildren, Nick and Matt Gantner, Willard Temme, Rachel Bow and Audrey Dausman. Alma also had 7 great grandchildren, Hannah and Clay Gantner, Hunter Temme, Calvin and Madie Jo Gantner, Griffin and Garner Bow.

Alma attended the old Armstrong School and she worked at General Tire for 20 years. She was a great mother, cook and housekeeper. Alma will be missed more than words can ever say. She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Darmstadt.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Ziemer Funeral Home North Chapel, 6300 N. First Avenue. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020 at the funeral home with Reverend Brian Buschkill officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
