"Sylvester Chapin, a well known resident of this city, died late yesterday at the home of his daughter Mrs. William Payne, 12 1/2 Polk street, aged 68 years. Mr Chapin was engaged for years in the city as a street salesman of coat hangers and had a wide acquaintance. He is survived by his daughter and one son, who live in New York.
"The funeral will be held from his late home Sunday at 3 pm. The body will be taken on the 9:40 am train Monday to Antwerp, his former home, for burial."∼Sylvester, b. Oct. 16, 1839.
